| Notes: | The science to interpret a dream is not recognized in the Malay world only, but also in other areas of Muslim culture. An Arabic manuscript entitled ʻIlm al-taʻbīr wa-al-ru'yā (the science of interpretation and dream), with shelfmark A 478/2, confirms that the science is justified in the Koran (see Cunbur et.al. 1988 II: 155). There are other Arabic texts entitled Kitāb taʻbir al-ruʻyā (A Book of interpreting a dream) (Cunbur et.al. 1988 II: 156), and Risalah fi ta'bir al-ru'ya (A Treatise on interpreting the dream) (Parmaksizoglu 1984 II: 9, Shelfmark 34 Dev. Mer 373-19040/6) in the Kara Mustafa Paṣa Collection. |
